Red Bull closer to the pace of Mercedes – Verstappen Friday was all about Free Practice and in FP1 Daniel Ricciardo took P5 with a 1:23.174 after 28 laps on the freshly resurfaced Hungaroring track. Max Verstappen was just behind in P6 with a 1:23.457 after 27 laps, although both set their quickest times on the soft tyre. Topping the time sheet was Lewis Hamilton with a 1:21.347. In Free Practice Two it was P2 for Daniel with a 1:21.030, also completing 36 laps as the Team went through their session plan.
