Hamilton top as Mercedes dominates Hungary FP1
Lewis Hamilton has topped first free practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix as Mercedes exerted a sizeable early margin over Ferrari and Red Bull Racing at the Hungaroring. Though overnight rain ensured a damp start to proceedings initially, Mercedes wasted no time in establishing their advantage once the surface was dry as Nico Rosberg pumped in a 1min 21.584s lap on his first super-soft run, before title rival Hamilton usurped him with a session-topping 1min 21.347s lap. Putting the defending champion two tenths clear of Rosberg, who was this morning confirmed as having signed a new two-year deal with Mercedes, the grippy new tarmac around the resurfaced Hungaroring enabled both Mercedes'...
