Pirelli hoping to choose tyres for opening races of 2017

With the current regulations stating that drivers must choose their tyre compounds 14 weeks in advance of flyaway races, in order that Pirelli can produce the requisite number and send them, by sea, to the event, the new 2017 regulations and intensive test schedule is presenting the Italian manufacturer with a major logistical problem. This year, the tyre choices for the season opener in Melbourne had to be made in December, and a similar schedule this year, when the new (for 2017) tyres are still being tested in November, makes Pirelli's task, and that of the teams and drivers, all the more difficult.
