Hamilton holds advantage at home – FP1 Report

British Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton got off to a fine start in his quest for another home win by leading a Mercedes 1-2 at Silverstone. The Mercedes pairing of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were locked in a session-long battle for free practice one honours, trading fastest lap times before Hamilton set the final time of 1:31.654. He finished the session just 0.033s ahead of his championship-leading team-mate, who suffered from ERS issues towards the end of the session. The Mercedes pair enjoyed a comfortable advantage despite only using the medium-compound tyre, the next nearest runners set their best times on soft tyres.
