Hamilton ahead as Mercedes dominates

Mercedes AMG Petronas Lewis Hamilton edged out Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg by just 0.033s as the squad dominated the opening practice session for the British Grand Prix. Hamilton and Rosberg, who collided on the last lap in Austria five days ago, traded quick times at a cool and cloudy Silverstone until the Briton moved ahead with a 1:31.654 on the Medium tyres. Hamilton’s lap was quicker than the time he set en-route to pole position at Silverstone last year. Force India’s Nico Hülkenberg was Mercedes’ closest challenger, albeit 0.838s behind Hamilton, who is chasing his fourth British Grand Prix victory this weekend.
