Rio Haryanto: “It wasn’t possible to fight for a better position”

Rio Haryanto could not match the pace of team-mate Pascal Wehrlein during the Austrian Grand Prix, and after an electronics glitch in the opening few laps of the race at the Red Bull Ring, was always playing catch-up to the rest of the field. The Manor Racing driver finished down in sixteenth on Sunday, but the Indonesian racer felt happy with how he performed, especially when he was closing down the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson in the closing laps, only for him to run out of laps to fight for a better outcome in Austria. “I started the race on the Soft tyre for 27 laps, then ran for two stints on the Supersoft,” said Haryanto, who ended only 1.447 seconds behind Ericsson at the chequered...
