Rosberg gets five-place grid penalty

Pirelli Media Mercedes has confirmed that Nico Rosberg will take a five-place grid penalty into qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix after crashing out of the final practice session. Rosberg, who topped both of Friday's sessions, had set the quickest overall first sector time when he suffered a suspected suspension failure as he exited Turn 2. Rosberg was pitched into the outside barriers and sustained damage to his Mercedes W07 Hybrid, though was able to walk away uninjured. Having inspected the damage to his car, Mercedes has confirmed that a new gearbox will be required, thus incurring a five-place penalty.
