McLaren works to introduce new components – Boullier With rain forecast for the afternoon, the morning’s session in Austria was heavily front-loaded as the team conducted a number of aerodynamic tests, including the running of a distinctive-looking new rear wing configuration on Fernando’s car. As predicted, a mighty mid-afternoon deluge wiped out much of this afternoon’s running in FP2 – but, almost as quickly as it arrived, the rains abated and the track dried. In the closing minutes, the teams were able to perform runs on the Option tyre, but Friday’s usual long running was lost to the weather.
