Ferrari to test ‘Halo 2' in Friday practice

Austrian Grand Prix – The Ferrari team will try out their second iteration of the ‘Halo' concept during Friday's practice at the Red Bull Ring. With cockpit protection looming for 2017, a decision on the final design is yet to be reached as F1 ticks into the second half of the year. The Halo is understood to be the preferred option, the solution tested out by Ferrari during pre-season testing in Barcelona. The second version of that idea will be tested on Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari in Friday practice at the Red Bull Ring, with the test designed to check driver visibility and see whether drivers can get out of the car quickly with the device attached.
