Alonso: Drivers can't afford Austria mistakes
McLaren Honda McLaren driver Fernando Alonso says the short nature of the Red Bull Ring, which plays host to this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, means drivers cannot afford to make mistakes. The Red Bull Ring is the fourth shortest circuit on the current Formula 1 calendar, at 4.3km, and is composed of only nine corners. Alonso, who was eliminated on the opening lap of last year's event, is wary of the need to avoid mistakes in order to secure a promising grid position. "It’s a much shorter track than Baku, but it’s still very challenging because you cannot afford to make any mistakes," he explained.
