Hamilton heads Friday practice for European GP

Mercedes pilot Lewis Hamilton set the pace on Friday in practice this weekend’s European Grand Prix, although both sessions were littered mistakes as drivers discovered the Baku City Circuit for the first time. Hamilton managed a 1 minute 46.435 second lap in the morning, which left him 0.377secs up on team-mate, Nico Rosberg, despite missing the final part of the session after he flat spotted his tyres and grazed the wall at Turn 3. The Briton remained top in the afternoon too, improving with a 1m 44.223s, while Rosberg was again second, although this time he was 0.690secs adrift, and had to stop on track with 20 minutes to go, reporting a problem with drive and the engine.
