Pirelli extends F1 tyre supply deal until 2019
Pirelli will remain as Formula 1's sole tyre supplier for another three years, the Italian manufacturer announced on Friday. Pirelli, which rejoined F1 as its sole supplier at the start of the 2011 season following Bridgestone's exit, has renewed its contract with the FIA until 2019. The deal was agreed over the winter but had not been formalised yet. Pirelli will introduce bigger, wider tyres in 2017, when planned rule changes are expected to make F1 cars faster. To prepare for the changes, the regulations have been modified in order to allow Pirelli to test its new tyres before their introduction.
