Carlos Sainz Jr: “I made a bit of a misjudgement”

Carlos Sainz Jr admitted his disappointment after crashing out of Canadian Grand Prix qualifying at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve when he hit the wall of champions on his first lap in the second phase on Saturday. The Scuderia Toro Rosso driver damaged his rear suspension in the hit, meaning he was unable to progress into the top ten shoot-out, a place he would certainly have had an opportunity to do had he not joined the long list of drivers to hit the wall on exit of the final chicane. Sainz will start fifteenth on Sunday, and feels he has the pace to move forward after being a top-ten contender all weekend long up until his qualifying crash. “What a shame.
