Williams blames DRS for Massa's FP1 crash
Williams says that a DRS problem caused Felipe Massa's spectacular accident in opening free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Brazilian lost control of his Williams under braking for Turn 1 in the opening segment of practice. His car got loose at the rear and he spun around before hitting the tyres backwards, badly damaging the rear end. With the Williams stranded at the side of the track, the session had to be red-flagged so marshals could return it to the pits. Massa had suggested immediately after the incident that something had felt wrong at the rear of the car after he had attempted to close DRS.
