Hamilton wins as Red Bull throw away victory

Monaco Grand Prix – Lewis Hamilton took advantage of a big pit stop error by the Red Bull Racing team to beat Daniel Ricciardo to Monaco victory. With rain showers hitting the circuit earlier in the day, the start of the race was held in wet conditions and behind the safety car, with the race commencing with less than ten laps completed. Daniel Ricciardo was able to build a strong lead in the tricky conditions, aided by Nico Rosberg who was holding up the rest of the leaders. Team orders were used by Mercedes to switch Rosberg with Hamilton, who was able to pose a greater threat to race leader Ricciardo.
