Monaco Qualifying: Ricciardo claims his first ever F1 pole position
Daniel Ricciardo delivered a superb performance to claim pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix, and with it a F1 career first top spot start for the Red Bull driver who has been in the zone throughout the weekend on the streets of Monte Carlo. The big smiling Australian overcame a resurgent Mercedes team who gave it all they had, in what was a bittersweet session for the energy drinks team whose star rookie Max Verstappen, Spanish Grand Prix winner two weeks ago, went from hero-to-zero when he stuck it into the wall after clipping the barrier around the swimming pool complex.
