Ricciardo flies to maiden pole position

Red Bull/Getty Images Daniel Ricciardo secured his maiden Formula 1 pole position, and Red Bull’s first since 2013, with a stunning lap during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. Ricciardo surged clear at the top of the timesheets with a lap of 1:13.622 on his first effort in Q3, which remained unbeaten for the remainder of the session. Ricciardo will start the race on the Super Soft tyres, rather than the faster Ultra Softs, after posting his best Q2 lap on that compound. Mercedes will line0up from second and third on the grid, with Nico Rosberg ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
