F1 remains Maldonado's ‘Plan A'

Pastor Maldonado is not giving up on a return to the Formula 1 grid, saying he wants to sign for a team that will give him a 'chance to be competitive.' Maldonado was dropped by Renault at the beginning of this year after his sponsors failed to pay the funds needed to secure his drive. Left without a race-seat for the 2016 season, the 2012 Spanish GP winner has been doing tyre testing for Pirelli this year. He is, however, keen to return to racing next season. 'We will try again and try to be back in a good team, to give me the chance to be competitive,' he told Reuters in the Monaco Grand Prix paddock. 'Plan A is Formula One.
