Drivers prefer Ultra Soft tyres for Monaco

Pirelli has confirmed the tyre choices which drivers have made for the Monaco Grand Prix, with the bulk of the leading outfits preferring the Ultra Soft compound. The new purple-banded tyre has only been used during pre-season testing so far but will make its race debut around the streets of Monaco, alongside the Super Soft and Soft compound. Mercedes and Red Bull have elected to take 10 sets of the Ultra Soft tyre, as has Renault's Kevin Magnussen. Ferrari has chosen nine sets of the Ultra Soft tyre and has preferred to bring an extra set of Softs compared to their Mercedes counterparts. Pirelli Media
