Williams test radical new rear wing

Williams trialled a radical rear wing during the first day of pre-season testing at Barcelona in Spain on Tuesday. The double decker design was fitted to the car for the first run of the day by Alex Lynn – and features an extended wider plane ahead of the main wing elements, with extra winglets. It is unclear whether this design is part of an evaluation for this season or is longer term evaluation ahead of 2017 car changes. However, the fact that it is higher and wider than the current wing regulations allow suggests it is part of an evaluation project for next year's car designs. It could be to simulator aero load, or give an idea of the turbulence and wake that the larger 2017 wings...
