Alonso retirement caused by software issue with engine

Spanish Grand Prix – Fernando Alonso's late race retirement in Spain was caused by a ‘software command issue', according to the team. Alonso had fallen behind Jenson Button at the start of the race, having made a poor getaway, and spent most of the race following him around. He retired on Lap 45 while running in the low points, pulling over to the side of the track and radioing in to say 'No power, no power' having slowed through the first two corners.
