Throwback Thursday: 1994 Spanish Grand Prix

With the whole F1 paddock still reeling from the tragic events of Imola a few weeks prior, F1 Hub revisits Damon Hill’s most emotional win. Still active to this day, the Grand Prix Driver’s Association (GDPA), was formed following the 1994 Monaco GP in response to the fatalities at Bolognia. First order of business for the group was recommending a tyre-barrier chicane before the Nissan corner, in order to increase safety on the flat out curve. Pre-race build up would also see a plethora of driver movement, notably Williams test driver David Coulthard stepping into the team as Ayrton Senna’s replacement.
