F1 teams avoid hard tyres for Spanish GP
Pirelli's hard tyres will make their first appearance of the year in the Spanish Grand Prix, but teams have been reluctant to pick them for the Barcelona race. The Italian manufacturer revealed the driver compound choices for the fifth round of the season on Tuesday, and leading teams have chosen just one set of the harder tyres. Mercedes and Ferrari have picked just one set of hards, but the Italian squad will have one more set of softs (eight) than the German team, which will have one more set of mediums instead. Williams and McLaren will have the same sets as Mercedes. Red Bull has opted to take two sets of hard tyres and four of mediums.
