Ricciardo deems not exploring cockpit protection 'disrespectful'

Russian Grand Prix – Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo tested out the team's solution to the cockpit protection quandary currently plaguing the FIA, and said that not exploring the different ideas available would be disrespectful. The FIA intend to introduce a cockpit protection system to Formula 1 in 2017, but have yet to decide on just what approach to this should be taken. Ferrari tested a ‘Halo' system on their car during pre-season testing in Barcelona, to mixed reception. While Kimi Raikkonen, who drove the car with the Halo fitted, said that visibility was fine, the design drew criticism for being ugly.
