Russian GP: Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 in opening practice
Nico Rosberg set the pace in the first Friday practice session for the Russian Grand Prix, outpacing Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. The championship leader beat Hamilton by over seven tenths of a second thanks to a lap of 1:38.127, set with supersoft tyres. Sebastian Vettel was third for Ferrari, although a full second behind Rosberg, with teammate Kimi Raikkonen fourth in the second car from the Maranello squad. Felipe Massa finished in fifth despite spending the majority of the session in the Williams garage after suffering a problem with the clutch.
