Wehrlein says DRS did not cause his accident

Pascal Wehrlein says that his qualifying accident in the Chinese Grand Prix was not the result of having his DRS open, as it was caused by him hitting standing water behind a bump in the track. Although the German had activated DRS shortly before he hit the patch of water, the German believed that track conditions were mostly why things went wrong. "I'm not really sure if DRS made a difference," he explained. "At the end of qualifying, [Sergio] Perez nearly crashed at the same place and the track was much drier.
