Mercedes expecting mixed strategies in China

Chinese Grand Prix – Mercedes executive technical director Paddy Lowe concedes that high tyre degradation is likely to mix up the order, with teams unable to run for more than five laps on the super-soft tyre. With Pirelli bringing the super-soft tyre to the Shanghai circuit for the first time, Mercedes' Lowe expects the front-running teams – who are likely to have to start the race on the compound – to encounter very high degradation in the early parts of the race. 'The Shanghai circuit places an entirely different duty on tyres relative to Melbourne and Bahrain,' said Paddy Lowe.
