Vandoorne gets 'bonus' point on debut

– McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne expressed his delight at rounding off an impressive Grand Prix debut in Bahrain with a "bonus" point.Vandoorne, the team's reserve driver, stepped up to replace Fernando Alonso, who was injured in a violent accident in Australia.Vandoorne out-qualified the experience Jenson Button at his first attempt, before battling to 10th position in Sunday evening's race.Vandoorne's points finish is the first by a Belgian driver in Formula 1 since Thierry Boutsen at the 1992 Australian Grand Prix."The start was a little bit difficult, but in the end we more or less maximised the opportunity," Vandoorne commented after the race."For my...
