Hamilton survives penalty scare to keep pole

Lewis Hamilton has held on to his pole position at the Bahrain Grand Prix despite a rules breach that could have seen stripped of his time. The Briton was alleged to have broken Article 28.3 of the F1 regulations, which states that a car cannot be reversed in the pit-lane under it's own power at any time. Hamilton was believed to have done just that at the end of the qualifying session, having claimed pole position by just 0.077s from Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg. Having been summoned to the stewards' office, the world champion was let off with a reprimand as 'no clear instruction was given on where he should park the car after qualifying'.
