Button “optimistic” following McLaren improvement

Bahrain Grand Prix – McLaren served up a surprise in Bahrain as Jenson Button finished third behind the dominant Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg & Lewis Hamilton, in what was the Woking-based team’s best Friday showing since their renewed partnership with Honda began at the start of last season. Button's best lap on supersoft tyres proved the closest anyone could get to Mercedes. Following the days running, the Briton was in an upbeat mood: “In the second run in P1 we ran higher fuel, so couldn't really get a reasonable lap time, but I think it would have been equally competitive.” He continued to say, “the car doesn't feel too bad.
