Rosberg heads opening Bahrain session

Mercedes AMG Petronas Nico Rosberg continued his fine start to the 2016 season by comfortably leading the opening practice session of the weekend in Bahrain. Rosberg posted a quick time during the initial stages of the session at an overcast Sakhir and consequently improved on the Soft tyres to finish with a 1:32.294. Rosberg’s time proved to be half a second quicker than Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, as the duo finished clear of the chasing pack. Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen was third quickest, 1.9s behind Rosberg, while Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat were fourth and fifth. Nico Hülkenberg finished sixth for Force India, ahead of Toro Rosso pair Carlos Sainz Jr....
