Mercedes almost retired Rosberg due to brake issue

Mercedes AMG Petronas Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has revealed that the outfit came close to retiring eventual Australian Grand Prix race winner Nico Rosberg due to a brake issue with his W07 Hybrid. Rosberg claimed victory at Albert Park after Ferrari's aggressive strategy for Sebastian Vettel failed to pay off, forcing the former champion to make an extra stop for tyres, clearing the path for Rosberg. However, Wolff says that Mercedes at one stage had to make a call to keep Rosberg on track, rather than retiring him on safety grounds. "We did the maths and opted to go with one set of Mediums to the end, with the drivers on the knife edge of endurance and performance," he said....
