Australian GP red flagged due to huge crash

Australian Grand Prix – The Melbourne race was red flagged on Lap 19 after a huge crash involving Fernando Alonso & Esteban Gutierrez. The pair collided on Lap 19 at Turn 3, in a very similar looking accident to that suffered by Jacques Villeneuve at the same spot in 2001 – a crash that resulted in the death of a marshal. Alonso, vying with Gutierrez for position, slightly clipped the back of the Haas under braking and speared into the outside wall. Continuing on into the gravel, the car dug in and rolled several times before coming to a stop. A visibly shaken Alonso clambered out and went to meet Gutierrez to shake hands.
