How F1 misjudged new qualifying format

The new elimination-style qualifying format is set to keep F1 strategy group members scratching their heads long into the Australasian night. The change to qualifying was introduced with the prospect that it would mix up the race grid and provide an exciting conclusion. Instead, it created an anticlimactic end to a qualifying hour which otherwise could have been an enthralling start to the season. The strategy group's intention for the new regulations was dramatically inaccurate.
