Red Bull reveal alternative ‘Halo' concept

Australian Grand Prix – Red Bull Racing have revealed rendered images to show off their alternative ‘Halo' cockpit safety system. The FIA plan on introducing a cockpit safety system to protect drivers head for 2017, a move coming in the wake of fatal accidents for Marussia's Jules Bianchi & IndyCar's Justin Wilson in recent seasons. The proposal has been floating around for a few years, due to the tragic fatal accident of F3's Henry Surtees in 2009, followed closely by Ferrari's Felipe Massa picking up serious head injuries at the Hungaroring due to being hit on the helmet by an errant spring.
