New Qualifying format postponed until Spanish GP

Planned changes to the qualifying session will not take place until the Spanish Grand Prix, according to Bernie Ecclestone. Earlier in the week, the FIA revealed a wave of regulation changes for the 2017 season, as a result of a meeting of Formula One's Strategy Group in Geneva. One of the more controversial rule changes came in the form of a revamped qualifying system, which is to be implemented for this season. The qualifying hour will still consist of three sessions, but the way drivers are eliminated has changed. After the opening few minutes of a session, drivers will be ‘knocked out' every 90 seconds in a bid to increase the drama – and the spectacle for the fans....
