With several rookies starting their F1 careers this season, Pascal Wehrlein is the first driver in our series explaining their paths to the higher echelons of motorsport. Pascal Wehrlein, the 21 year old German, has signed a deal to race with Manor-Mercedes in 2016. So why have they chosen him? Let's look at his background. Born to a German father and a Mauritian mother in 1994, Wehrlein showed an early interest in motorsport but didn't start karting until nine years old – actually quite old by comparison to the likes of other young talents who have started in F1 in recent years.
