F1 set to scrap power unit token system

– Formula 1 is set to scrap its controversial power unit token development system from the 2017 campaign, according to Renault's Managing Director, Cyril Abiteboul.F1's current rules restrict development to selected parts of the power unit, with each component carrying a weighting over how many tokens it would cost to make changes.In 2016, the four engine manufacturers have 32 tokens to use, though this number was set to gradually decrease over the coming seasons, with more areas to be frozen.Abiteboul confirmed the change at Renault's launch event in Paris."The token system is being removed," Abiteboul is quoted by Motorsport.com."One of the reasons we have agreed to...
