Head protection given green light for 2017

– Formula 1 chiefs are reportedly planning to introduce driver head protection for the 2017 season, following the latest round of talks over the matter.According to the BBC, governing body the FIA is eager to push ahead with the 'halo' concept (pictured), aimed at deflecting debris away from the driver.Alexander Wurz, Chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, had already made clear that drivers felt the time was right to introduce such a safety measure."Obviously the drivers are happy that the technical team representatives agreed for the additional head protection to come in for 2017," Wurz told the BBC."We will now enter the design phase, where the drivers...
