F1 drivers call for better head protection

– Formula 1 drivers are pushing for better head protection to be implemented by the 2017 season at the latest, according to Alexander Wurz, Chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association.F1's governing body, the FIA, has been evaluating improved driver protection for years, but the issue came under fresh scrutiny following the deaths of Jules Bianchi and Justin Wilson in 2015.Bianchi passed away in July as a result of the severe head injuries he sustained at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, while Wilson was killed a month later after being struck by debris in an IndyCar race.Several ideas have been tested, with drivers said to be backing the 'halo' concept, outlined by Mercedes, which...
