Illien: Renault to show progress early on

– Mario Illien, the head of Ilmor Engineering, which has been assisting Renault with power unit development, is optimistic that the manufacturer will feel engine gains from the first race of the 2016 season.Renault endured a dismal 2015 campaign after failing to deliver anticipated reliability and performance improvements, which severely restricted supplied teams Red Bull and Toro Rosso.Illien's company was approached to help Renault and, while a late-season upgrade package was not used last year, the Swiss engineer remains hopeful of making an important contribution."We will progress gradually.
