Surtees receives CBE in New Year Honours list

The only man to win world championship in Formula One and motor cycle racing, John Surtees, is to receive a CBE in the Queen's New Year Honours list. Surtees is already a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), and appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2008. Now, Surtees has been named as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queens New Year's Honours list. The 81-year-old Briton became a huge success in motor cycle racing, taking the world title in the top 500cc category in 1956, 1958, 1959 and 1960, before making the switch to Formula One in 1960.
