Take some risks

In striving for the next big thing in F1, engineers traditionally used to take some very obvious risks. Not all of them worked, but it led to clear differences in the cars, as evidenced by the Tyrrell P34 which was launched in 1976. Seen here three years ago in Austin, the P34 turned heads and regularly fast lap times in its debut season - winning once at the Swedish Grand Prix - before the six-wheel concept was dropped at the end of 1977.
