Max Verstappen demoted to P16 and given penalty points

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen may have finished P12 in the season closing Abu Dhabi race, but the young Dutch driver was given a post-race time penalty and points on his licence for his driving in the race. Verstappen had been in contention to battle with teammate Carlos Sainz for minor points placings at the halfway point of the race, a job made easier by Sainz allowing Verstappen through to have a go at catching the Red Bull of Daniil Kvyat in front. However, the Dutch driver locked up his brakes into Turn 8 and flat spotted his tyres. This meant he had to pit for an unscheduled change of tyres.
