Hamilton thought one-stop was possible

– Lewis Hamilton believed that a one-stop strategy during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix could have been possible as he attempted to overhaul Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.Hamilton trailed Rosberg during the first stint, but closed up to the back of his rival across the second, before Rosberg dived into the pits for his second stop on Lap 32.Mercedes informed Hamilton to prolong his stint and the Briton suggested that he could preserve his Prime tyres to the end of the race, having stopped on Lap 12.Having lost substantial time to Rosberg, Hamilton peeled into the pits for his final stop on Lap 42 and elected to use another set of Prime tyres, emerging 12 seconds behind.Hamilton closed...
