Red Bull teases imminent engine announcement

Christian Horner has confirmed Red Bull Racing has put pen to paper on an engine deal that will ensure its place on the Formula 1 grid in 2016. Having originally intended to drop Renault in favour of a 'more competitive' power unit for next season, the four-time title winning team was left in limbo when its preferred option of Mercedes and Ferrari engines was scuppered by both manufacturers' refusal to supply. However, while Red Bull has stayed relatively coy on it future plans, recent partnership extensions – with three announced this week alone – and the fact it has submitted an entry for 2016 had pointed towards a new engine deal having been agreed.
