Williams to appeal Massa disqualification

Brazilian Grand Prix – Williams' Rob Smedley has confirmed the team will be appealing the disqualification of Felipe Massa at Interlagos. The Brazilian driver was excluded from the results of his home race after pre race checks revealed that ‘the tread of the right hand side rear tyre of Car Number 19 was 137°C, 27 °C above the maximum tread temperature of 110 °C allowed by the official tyre supplier. The corresponding tyre pressure at 137 °C was 20.6 psi, 0.1 psi above the minimum starting pressure.’ Having finished P8, Massa was removed from the results but Head of Performance Engineering Rob Smedley says the team will be appealing the decision.
