Magnussen was No.1 choice after Grosjean – Haas Haas F1 team would have signed McLaren reserve Kevin Magnussen as a substitute choice had Romain Grosjean rejected a move from Lotus F1, the American F1 team owner Gene Haas has revealed. The Dane, current McLaren's reserve driver, having lost his race seat at the team despite an remarkable maiden season in 2014 that included a podium on first appearance in Australia and a 9-10 qualifying record against Jenson Button.
