Heavy rain postpones qualifying until Sunday

Further heavy rain at the Circuit of the Americas has led to the Saturday afternoon qualifying session being delayed until Sunday morning. Officials gave the weather as much time as they could to clear up, but persistent heavy downpours and a saturated and flooded circuit meant getting cars on track was impossible. The weather had already seen the cancellation of second practice on Friday, while Saturday morning’s third practice was held in extremely wet conditions that saw a number of drivers running off track due to issues with aquaplaning.
