Second practice at Austin called off
File photo. Red Bull/Getty Images Friday’s second practice session for the United States Grand Prix was cancelled due to torrential weather conditions at Austin. Heavy rain battered the circuit throughout lunchtime and while it briefly relented, the threat of lightening prohibited marshals from being present around the circuit. The torrential rain returned to the area and flooded parts of the track and after almost an hour the decision was made to cancel the session, with the medical helicopter unable to fly. Nico Rosberg had set the quickest time during a rain-affected first practice session on Friday morning.
